 Key Units :

Grade 0 :

G-TD08-014.png

Undying Departed, Grenache

[AUTO]:Forerunner (When a unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this unit to (RC))
[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO] Generation Break 1 (Active if you have one or more face up G units in total on your (VC) or G zone):When this unit is put into the drop zone from (RC) due to the effect of the hollow ability, Counter Charge (2).

GRENACHE IS THE BEST STARTER. He is the best utility card that you can use. Hollow him or call something over him. Just get him to the drop zone. Then, on first Stride, call him to RC via Nightrose, hollow him, and retire him for a CC2. He replenishes resources for multi attacks.

Points :

  • Countercharges help in G-Granblue, which is quite a CB heavy deck
  • Can be used twice in a turn, thus CC 4
  • Can also include another copy in deck if SV got bound.

g-bt06-094-c

Mick the Ghostie and Family

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO] Generation Break 1:When this unit is placed on (RC) from your drop zone, if this unit is hollowed, choose one of your other units, that unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of turn, and this unit get “[AUTO]:When this unit is put into your drop zone, return this unit to your deck, and shuffle your deck.”.

Mick is another great stand trigger. He boosts a unit by 10k.

Just putting this out here : You cannot call Mick via Negrolily. Negrolily clearly states : “choose up to one normal unit with “Ghostie” in its card name from your drop zone, call it to an open (RC)”

Grade 1 :

G-BT06-039-R.png

Tommy the Ghostie Brothers

[AUTO]:[Choose a grade 3 card from your hand, and reveal it] When this unit is placed on (RC) from hand, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck for up to one grade 3 card with “Nightrose” in its card name, reveal it to your opponent, put it into your hand, shuffle your deck, choose a card from your hand, and discard it.
[CONT](Hand):While you are paying the cost for Stride, this card gets grade+2.

Tommy ? He’s just a Stride fodder……… not. In Granblue, he is one of the ways to build up your drop zone. How ? Use his on On-call skill to reveal a G3, get Nightrose, and discard a card. But that discard can become much more fearsome …… especially if the discarded card is Gast Dragon.

G-BT08-090.png

Bale the Ghostie

[AUTO] Generation Break 1:When this unit is placed on (RC) from your drop zone, this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of turn.
[AUTO]:[Put this card on the bottom of your deck from your drop zone] When this unit is put into the drop zone from (RC) during each battle phase, if you have a vanguard with “Nightrose” in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, Counter Charge (1).

Bale is a Nightrose support unit who countercharges.

One of the best way to use Bale is:

  • Have Bale on RC; King Serpent in the drop zone with any other card.
  • Stride into G4 Nightrose.
  • When you attack with Nightrose, CB2 to call King Serpent over Bale and another card.
  • Bale triggers, CC1
  • King Serpent triggers, CC1/SC1

This way, you can negate Nightrose’s cost, and as a plus, get a soulcharge.

G-BT06-040-R.png

Witch Doctor of the Powdered Bone, Negrobone

[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1:[Counter Blast (1)] At the end of the battle that this unit boosted a rearguard, if you have a vanguard with “Nightrose” in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, retire the unit that was boosted during this battle, choose a card from your drop zone with the hollow ability, and call it to (RC).

Negrobone. He combos pretty well with a hollow unit, especially Gast Dragon and Negrorook.

Combo Scenario :

  • Have GB1 active, Nightrose vanguard, Negrorook in drop
  • Have a Hollowed Gast Dragon in the same column as Negrobone
  • Attack with a boost from Negrobone
  • Mill two
  • Total Power: 11k + 3k +  5k + 7k =26k
  • Retire Gast Dragon
  • Call Gast again for mill two 19k attack or Negrorook for a 16k attack.

Also has 22k attack with Gianmario which increases pressure on the opponent.

Grade 2 :

G-BT08-088.png

Handsomeness, Gianmario

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO] Generation Break 1:When this unit is placed on (RC) from your drop zone, until end of turn, this unit gets [Power]+3000, and “[AUTO](RC):When this unit’s attack hits a vanguard, Counter Charge (1)/Soul Charge (1).”. Then, if this unit is hollowed, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of turn.

Gianmario is a good pressure unit. Alone, it is a 15k attack, and when boosted, a 22k attack. His on-hit grants you a soulcharge and a countercharge, thus refilling cost for a Negrolazy or Goauche.

g-td08-007

Witch Doctor of the Rotten Sea, Negrorook

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1 (Active if you have one or more face up G units in total on your (VC) or G zone):When this unit attacks, this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle, and if this unit is hollowed, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of that battle.

A hollow unit, and a 16k beatstick. Pretty much self explanatory. Makes 21k columns with a 7k booster.

pr-0256

King Serpent

[AUTO]:When this unit is placed on (RC) from your drop zone, Soul Charge (1), choose a card from your damage zone, and turn it face up.

Cost Recharger. Countercharges and soulcharges when placed on RC from drop zone. He can easily refill the cost of G4 Nightrose with Bale, as I explained in Bale’s section

g-bt06-019-rr

Witch Doctor of Languor, Negrolazy

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO] Generation Break 1:[Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)] When this unit is placed on (RC), if you have a vanguard with “Nightrose” in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to one grade 2 or less card from your drop zone not named “Witch Doctor of Languor, Negrolazy”, call it to (RC), and until end of turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 and “[AUTO]:When this unit is put into the drop zone from (RC) due to the effect of a hollow ability, Counter Charge (1)/Soul Charge (1).”.

Negrolazy is an important part of the deck. He’s a Glimmer Clone. Good call targets for him are Negrorook, Gast Dragon, King Serpent, Nightstorm . He also refills his own cost if you let him retire by Hollow.

Combo Scenario :

  • Have unit on RC, GB1 active, have Nightrose vanguard.
  • Stride into any unit
  • Call him to RC from Drop
  • Pay his cost.
  • Call a G2, preferably Negrorook or King Serpent to repay Lazy’s cost.
  • At turn end, retire Negrolazy via hollow, and CC1/SC1

Grade 3 :

G-TD08-004-RRR.png

Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose

[AUTO](VC)[1/Turn] Generation Break 2:[Put three cards from the top of your deck into the drop zone] When your rear-guard is put into the drop zone, you may pay the cost. If you do, you may call that card to (RC).
[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] During your turn, when your G unit Stride, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to one card from your drop zone, call it to (RC), and that unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of turn.

Your main ride. The card you want to be on when you Stride. Stride into Obadiah, set up your drop zone with cards like Gast Dragon, Negrolazy, King Serpent, Negrobone or Nightstorm. If you set up correctly, your late game becomes more pressurizing on your opponent.

Taking Q & A from the wiki :

Q. I Stride over “Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose“. When the turn ends, I retire a Unit due to “Hollow”, can I Call that Unit with the Generation Break 2 of “Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose“?

A. Yes, you can. Because they’re Retired due to “Hollow“, the timing occurs after a G Unit returns to the G Zone.
Q. I call “Undying Departed, Grenache” due to the Generation Break 2 of “Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose“. If I declare “Hollow” at this time, do I retire “Undying Departed, Grenache“?

A. Yes, you can Retire it. If a Unit is Called during the End Phase and enters “Hollow” State, it Retires during that same End Phase. So if you Call an “Undying Departed, Grenache” (with “Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose“) that was Retired due to “Hollow“, and you Retire it again by declaring “Hollow”, you can use its Counter Charge 2 Auto Ability twice during your turn.

g-bt06-009-rrr

Ghoul Dragon. Gast Dragon

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1:[Put two cards from the top of your deck into the drop cards from the top of your deck into the drop zone] When this unit attacks a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of that battle. Then, if this unit is hollowed, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of that battle.
[ACT](Drop Zone):[Counter Blast (1) & Choose one of your grade 2 or greater rear-guards, and retire it] Call this card to (RC).

Gast Dragon alone can hit 19k, with a boost, he can hit 16k. Put simply, he’s a very powerful beatstick. He can become very dangerous in the mid to late game. Also, you can even call him on RC if you have any unit you want to replace. But still, do not run more than 2 of him, because milling can hurt this deck.

g-bt06-083-c

Mighty Rogue, Nightstorm

[AUTO]:Hollow (When this unit is placed on (RC), you may have it become hollowed. If you do, retire it at the end of turn)
[AUTO](RC) Generation Break 1:[Counter Blast (1)] At the end of the battle that this unit attacked a vanguard, if this unit is hollowed, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to one card not named “Mighty Rogue, Nightstorm” from your drop zone, and call it to a (RC) this unit is not on.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)] When this unit is placed on (VC), you may pay the cost. If you do, look at five cards from the top of your deck, search for up to one card with the hollow ability from among them, reveal it to your opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your deck.

Nightstorm’s evolution forme. He combos seriously well with Negrobone.

Combo Scenario :

  • Have GB1 active, hollowed Nightstorm, Negrobone behind him, Negrorook, King Serpent or Gast Dragon in the drop
  • Attack with other column.
  • Attack with Nightstorm w/ boost from Negrobone.
  • Call King Serpent to CC1/SC1; Negrorook or Gast Dragon as beaters, to another column.
  • Replace Nightstorm to get minimum 2 more attacks
  • Total attacks till yet : 4.

You always wanna run at least 1 or 2 of this guy, for multiattacks.

The G Zone :

G-BT06-037-R.png

Ghostie Great King, Obadiah

[Stride]-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[AUTO]:When this unit is placed on (VC), search your deck for up to three cards, put them into your drop zone, shuffle your deck, and if two or more cards with the hollow ability were put into the drop zone with this effect, choose up to one normal unit with “Ghostie” in its card name from the drop zone, and call it to a (RC) in the same column as this unit.

ALL HAIL OBADIAH. The best First Stride. You always want to go into him first and set up your drop zone for future plays. Need Negrobone, Negrorook, Gast Dragon, Nightstorm etc. in the drop ? He’s your go to.

g-bt06-008-rrr

Mist Phantasm Pirate King, Nightrose

[Stride]-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[AUTO](VC) Generation Break 2:[Counter Blast (2) & Choose a face down card named “Mist Phantasm Pirate King, Nightrose” from your G zone, and turn it face up] When this unit attacks a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to two cards from your drop zone, and call them to separate (RC) in different rows.

Nightrose’s G4 form. Helps in finishing games, but is a lot costly (money as well as effect cost) She’s a very good Stride…… who is 25$ a piece. Good luck getting 4. Yeah, but although she’s costly, get her. She helps activate combos, such as calling King Serpent over Bale to repay her skill cost, with an additional soulcharge. Minimum 5-6 attacks are guaranteed.

g-bt08-009

Tempest-calling Pirate King, Goauche

[Stride]-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1) & Choose a face down card named “Tempest-calling Pirate King, Goauche” from your G zone, and turn it face up] When this unit is placed on (VC), you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to five cards from your soul, put them into your drop zone, choose the same number of cards from your drop zone as the number of cards put into your drop zone with this effect, call them to separate (RC), and those units get [Power]+1000 for each face up card in your G zone until end of turn.

Goauche is the new powerful Stride from set 08. Why powerful, you ask ? If set up correctly with King Serpent, Gianmario etc, You call call 5 units w/ +1k for each face up G Unit. G4 Nightrose calls 2 units for a CB2. I would have maxed out this Stride, but if you don’t want to deck out, run 2. I often use it to end games, mostly. You can use it as first stride, but you won’t get much power boost.

g-bt08-019

Great Witch Doctor of Banquets, Negrolily

[G guardian] (Usable when both fighters’ vanguards are grade 3 or greater, and the number of face up G guardians in your G zone is three or less)-Opponent Turn’s Guard Step-[Choose a card with “Heal” from your hand, and discard it] Call this card to your (GC) from face down.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (1) & Choose one of your rear-guards, and retire it] When this unit is placed on (GC), you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to one normal unit with “Ghostie” in its card name from your drop zone, call it to an open (RC), and this unit gets [Shield]+10000 until end of that battle.

So the reason I run 4 Negrolily is because she is way better than Corpse Dragon. You always have 1 unit that you don’t want on field during your opponents turn.

Combo Scenario :

  • Have Bale on RC, Nightrose as vanguard
  • CB1 and retire Bale.
  • Bale triggers, CC1.
  • Call Bal to RC again via Negrolily’s skill
  • Lily gets +10k shield.

As I stated above, you can use that combo to make Negrolily’s skill only a retire, which, tbh, is not really a problem in Granblue.

Also, I repeat what I stated in Mick the Ghostie and Family’s section :

You cannot call Mick via Negrolily.

Negrolily clearly states : “choose up to one normal unit with “Ghostie” in its card name from your drop zone, call it to an open (RC)”

G-FC03-007.png

Demon Sea Queen, Maread

[Stride]-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[ACT](VC)[1/Turn][Counter Blast (1) & Choose a face down card from your G zone, and turn it face up & Choose a card from your hand, and discard it] Choose up to the same number of normal units from your drop zone as the number of face up cards named “Demon Sea Queen, Maread” in your G zone with the sum of their grades being 4 or less, call them to separate (RC), and increase this unit’s [Power] by the sum of the original [Power] of the units called with this effect until end of turn

Maread is a kind of last resort option, when you have no other cards to play. Flip as many copies of her as you can w/ Goauche, herself etc. She call call 1 G3,1 G1; 2 G2 or others. Personally, I don’t think this Stride is good. I’ll replace her when chara booster 3 comes out.

So that’s my Granblue deck Profile !

Now, some alternative cards :

  • You can use Colombard instead of King Serpent for more attacks, but as Goauche requires soul, I like Serpent more. Upto user preference.
  • Corpse Dragon also can be used with Negrolily , but I don’t recommend it because Corpse Dragon mills in a deck where you can easily deck out. Still, if you want to run him, use them in ratio 1:3.
  • Skeleton Cannoneer is also a good unit for control. Decrease Gianmario and Negrorook by 1 and include two if you want.
